Fun Games To Play With Your Housemates

One of the best memories you can create while living in student accommodation is hanging out with your peers and playing fun games. And if you are new to your student housing and don’t know your fellow roommates very well, games are a great ice breaker which will help you get to know each other better.

So, without further ado, here are some fun games to play with your housemates:

Heads Up!

Playing ‘Heads Up!’ is the perfect way to start any games night, especially if you love a good guessing game! Simply download the app and hold the phone above your head while your housemates do their best to explain the word on the screen, once the game is over, you can watch the recording and have a good laugh with your peers.

Name That Song

This is a fun game for those who love music. It is quite simple; one person should be the judge while two teams compete. The judge will have a playlist with different tracks and will play the first few seconds of a song, the first team to guess the name and singer of the song will receive a point. Whichever team has the most points will win!

Truth or Dare

This game is not for the faint-hearted and can truly reveal your friends’ deepest darkest secrets. Use your imagination and ask some riveting questions, and give some fun dares, but be careful, and prepare to take what you give!

Board Games

Classic games such as Monopoly and Snakes and Ladders are always crowd favourites, however you can also choose to take your board game skills to a whole new level and play something more recent. Recent games such as Cards Against Humanity and What Do You Meme are always enjoyable and offer good laugh value.

At Be.Accommodation, your local and trusted UNSW Sydney accommodation, we always aim to provide a fun and safe environment for our residents while fostering life-long friendships. For more information contact us on +61 2 9167 9356 or enquire now.

Remote Studying: How to effectively study from home

Remote studying is now more common than ever, as many universities have chosen to move face-to-face classes and lectures to online, students understand how to adjust to this new way of learning.

So, without further ado, here are five tips on how to effectively study from home:

Tip 1: Find a quiet place to study

This may be easier said than done, but the key to having a quiet place to study is to remove any distractions. Turn off any televisions, close your browsers that have Netflix playing and ask those in your household or student accommodation not to distract you during your study time.

Tip 2: Create a routine

When studying remotely, it can be hard to know where work, study and fun activities start and stop. This is where having a set routine becomes handy. Aim to set your study time during regular hours that work for you and have pre-planned periods during the day to relax.

Tip 3:  Set Up Study Blocks

Consider breaking up your study time into small, achievable blocks within your daily routine. Try work in blocks of 30 minutes to an hour and keep it simple. Use a timer to help keep track of the time.

Tip 4: Move Your Body

When your study blocks end, it is time to get up and move around. Staying active can improve your sleep, give you energy and help you manage stress. Try going for a walk outside, get some fresh and listen to some music, whatever works for you.

Tip 5: Stay Connected
When studying from home, it is important to stay connected with others for your mental health and well-being. This can boost your energy and improve your sense of community; staying in touch with friends and family can also help you relax and feel supported.

At Be.Accommodation, your trusted student accommodation near UNSW, we are dedicated to ensuring that our residents have all they need to effectively study remotely. For further information contact us on  + 61 2 9167 9356.

Five Items All Students Must Have Before Heading to University

When heading to university there is a lot to think about, in particular those essential items you need to get through your studies. At Be.Accommodation, we want to ensure that our residents are fully prepared for their time at university, so we have curated a list of the five must have items:

1. Laptop
Sitting in a lecture and taking notes by hand can be time-consuming, especially when the lecturer is speeding through the presentation slides. When students have laptops, they can type their notes directly into a document. Laptops are also essential when it comes to research and assignments, allowing students to complete them with ease. The portability of laptops also facilitates group work by allowing students to meet at any location.

2. Headphones
Headphones are great for when you need to block out any background noise and distractions while studying. Put on your favourite study playlist and get into the zone to complete those ‘wonderful’ 3000-word assignments.

3. Diary/Planner
Whether you use your calendar on your smart phone, or you have an old-school planner, diaries are important to stay organised and keep track and up to date on all your university work. Make sure you add all your classes, group assignment meetings, and due dates into your diary.

4. USB
Sometimes technology fails us, there is nothing worse than spending hours on an assignment for it to be completely deleted from your computer. You will notice that all your tutors will remind you to back-up your assignments, just in case! Make sure that you invest in a USB so you can easily transfer videos, images, and other files.

5. Water Bottle
This may seem like an unusual must-have item but hear me out – it is important to stay hydrated, especially during long days on campus studying. Water helps you think more clearly, increase your ability to focus, and can help you experience greater clarity and creativity.

At Be.Accommodation, your trusted Sydney student accommodation, we want to ensure our residents are equipped with all that they need to study comfortably. Contact us on 61 9167 9356 for more information.

The Perfect Study Soundtrack

If you enjoy listening to music while you study, choosing the right sound can be vital to your overall productivity level. Listening to music can calm you down, elevate your mood, and motivate you to stay focused and study for longer periods of time.

However, listening to the wrong type of music can distract you from your studies. It may be hard to steer away from your favourite Kanye, Drake or Beyonce album – but to get those top results you should opt for a different sound.

So, what type of music is perfect for studying? Here is your answer:

Classical Music

Never underestimate the power of classical music, it is known for being both peaceful and harmonious. Classical helps to create a calm and serene study environment, and it is recommended as one of the best studying genres for students.

Nature Sounds

Nature sounds are known to increase concentration levels and keeps the students mind engaged at a more subconscious level. Nature sounds can also be extremely calming, which is why many people use it to help with meditations and to fall asleep. Try listening to soundtracks of nature like waterfalls, rain, or the seashore rolling in.

Ambient Music

Ambient music utilises ambient sounds like the hum of an air conditioning or the buzz of TV static. These sounds often lack a true beat, and usually doesn’t have lyrics, so it ends up blending into the pre-existing background noise. White noise helps with productivity focus and allows you to perform tasks more efficiently.

Modern Electronic

Modern Electronic, otherwise known as ‘chill out’ music can help relax the mind and get you ready for a long day of studying. This genre of music will help you absorb knowledge and solve problems quickly.

When living at Be.Accommodation, we encourage our residents to enjoy peaceful sounds while studying. All of our rooms are soundproof, meaning you can enjoy your music without distracting others. For more information about the best student housing Sydney can offer, contact us on +61 2 9267 9356.
